I remember eating fresh jackfruits at my aunt's house in bangalore too... and those days, for a city girl like me, it was the highlight of the holidays!!! never picked up any business skills though...... we had a wonderful summer and now its back to school and routine....... am still catching up with all the posts i missed while i was away!

There was a jackfruit tree at my aunt's home, where we used to spend our summer vacation every yr while growing up. She also had a mango tree and guava tree...Can u imagine the fun we must have had every summer..? Unforgettable memories! I even learned some business skills as she let me sell some of the fruits to the neighborhood folks at very reasonable cost..and I so enjoyed doing it. Yes, nothing like from your own backyard...:))

Yes, I totally agree with your comment on the Asian market ones. I used to rinse the can jackfruit slices multiple times in plain water and then consumed them. It isn't the same as the fresh ones:). I am going to be making that curry tomorrow and I will be thinking of you. Wish I could offer it virtually somehow:) . Oh I could not find the jackfruit seeds in the Asian markets a long time back when I tried hunting for them... but maybe they carry them now?

Jackfruits are a major favourite here too.... and this year, the tree in our building yielded so many that all of us got a few! Its nice eating jackfruits bought from the market, but even better eating one grown in our backyard!!

Brings back memories. It's been too long. We haven't tried them at asian markets recently due to previous disappointment with taste. :P Mangosteen, rambutan, durian and jackfruit really should be eater fresh right? :) But I do know that curry you mentioned. Simply yummy with drumsticks.

Most memorable...the scent of jackfruit on your fingers for days on end...mmmm....
