Pics from our recent Mysore road trip.
We had a fabulous, extended boat ride in Ranganathittu, with a very knowledgeable guide. It is a bird paradise as my son calls it....We have way too many pictures of this beautiful bird sanctuary, but I am posting only a couple of pictures here. It was an unforgettable experience.
At Ranganathittu....
We were really close to the crocs....
Painted Storks....
Swallow nests underneath the rocks...
Our memorable trip to Channapatna Toy factory and showroom...Read about the eco-friendly, wooden, non-toxic Channapatna toys. Here is an interesting tidbit info on Michelle Obama's purchase of Channapatna Toys to adorn the White House :-).
Colorful array of toys...Colors by usage of vegetable dyes...
More Toys and display items..
Even more...
We came home with tons of colorful hand-made, wooden bangles:))
And of course, not without couple of old fashioned spinning TOPS:-)
Our visit to the Channapatna Toy factory took us by surprise...There are just a few artisans at work in a small one-room 'factory', with very old-fashioned tools and equipments, busy creating these fabulous pieces at ease. Way too cool, eh?
The factory...
Milk wood used in creating these toys..
Drive towards 700yr old Himavad Gopalaswamy Temple...
Picturesque mountain ranges...
The temple is situated at the ht of 1454 mts above sea level and is always covered with fog most of the time of the yr...
Temple covered with fog :-) It was extremely windy too...Oh, see the dung on the steps...? That is Elephant dung! ...It indicates that a wild elephant was around here sometime ago:-)
The temple and the area surrounding the temple is frequented by wild elephants...
Mother and baby elephant near the temple...
