FOLLOW UP ON MY MUM

My Mum is unable to read mails, but she's very touched reading all your comments regarding her injury. She's very grateful to have such wonderful cyber-friends.

A little bit about her injury, since many of you asked: she tripped and fell on granite stairs, which did not have a handrail. She broke the right ankle and lower leg. It was a bit scary because she heard her bones break and could not move because she was in so much pain.

The X-Rays later at the ER showed breakage in four different places and cracks in two places. Surgery was the only way to fix the problem. So they have inserted rods and screws to fix the bones, which will be removed 2 years from now.

She's right now recovering at home, using a walker and hopping on one foot to get around. India does not give pain meds a lot, so she's in a lot of pain. She's missing USA a lot for that reason.

Also, she's begun exercises of her leg. The prognosis is that she cannot bear weight on her leg for three months, after which she will be expected to bear weight, little by little. It will take 6-8 months for her to fully recover.

Having been always an active busy bee Mum, she finds it painful to be bedridden and restricted in her movements. We hope to keep her in good spirits until she recovers completely.

This also introduces a new problem of our return to the US. We will learn more as days go by.

  1. Oh no! Please give your Mum my love and wishes for a speedy recovery. I've been away from blogs for a bit so I hadn't read of her fall until today.

Keep positive, Subadra and from one hyperactive Mum to the another, good luck finding a new calm through this period.

    Asha xo
