AP (ADVANCED PLACEMENT) RESOURCES

This page contains the AP exam information that my kids have used, AP Collegeboard links and other useful resources. Scroll down for various AP exam resources.

AP- Advanced Placement is a college level exam taken by high school students. Many universities grant college credits to those students who score high in these AP exams.

AP tests are usually administered in the month of May.

AP scores range from 1 to 5, with 5 being the best.

As an independent homeschooling family, I had to call varied schools close by our residence to find a school that would be willing to administer the AP tests to my children. The AP music theory and AP Human Geography were hard to find. A very few schools offer these tests, and very few were interested in offering it to the homeschooled students.

It is best to call before March to make sure the school offers the exams and that your student can take the exams. Most schools have deadlines sometime in March. Begin the process of contacting various schools early! I have made phone and email contacts early Thanksgiving to make sure that schools were aware that I was looking for a school for my homeschooled student to take the AP exam that year. I usually contact multiple schools to see if all the AP exams my children want to take that particular year were given in one single school. We had to make use of 2 to even 3 schools for 5 AP exas taken in a single year. And ofcourse, I always followed up with further emails during January, and paid the exam / proctor fees (when applicable) early enough to register my student. I have had good experiences with both private and public schools.
